This is a short (5 minute) video of a project underway by our partner Diamond Development Group that talks about how Blair Korndoffer is ready to release his life work into the open source world.    The slide deck can be viewed at www.diamondcadblocks.org.   This is a set of thousands of architectural CAD blocks and lisp programs that can be used to build virtually any kind of building, from residential to medical.
See me Live in front of a couple of thousand people … OSCON Lightening Talk
This seems to me to be a great opportunity for new graduates of the Architectural bent to come out of the chute with a fully functional toolkit.   It’s like a ZEND framework for buildings!   I can tell you, quite frankly, I know nothing about AutoDesk’s CAD software, but I know an interesting Open Source idea when I see it.  This project needs a champion to move it into the world and make it available to everyone.
